I don't know - folks up here like the feeling of authenticity, but I think an actual encounter with a native might make them swoon - best take it one step at a time.
I'm a linguist. Not the sort that speaks lots of languages (just two for me), but the sort who studies language - what it is and how it works.
I'm working on my PhD in Massachusetts, but I come from Texas, where most of my friends and family still are. I go back as much as I can afford to.

as one actual texan to another i'd just like to say this:
